SENSORY CRAVE:
Do you have a child who seeks sensory stimulation and needs help channeling their sensory behaviors? Sensory seekers crave lots of sensory stimulation, but they can also become excessively dysregulated and not know ‘when to stop’ when sensory input becomes too much. Providing structured sensory activities can help a sensory seeker get the right amount of sensory stimulation without getting dysregulated. For those that are especially dysregulated, sensory play is best experienced with structure and guidance. Our experts have created multiple sensory-intensive strategies & activities to help your little seeker when things get hard. LEARN MORE...
A sensory seeker receives very little information through the senses, causing them to see, hear, feel, smell and taste less than others experiencing the same thing. Your seeker may have the constant need to touch people or things, even if it is inappropriate. They may not understand personal space and appear clumsy and/or uncoordinated. These kids may be referred to as thrill seekers and can also be very fidgety in school.
Things to try:
- Play a game of Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes.
- Color or write on a piece of sandpaper
- March to a favorite song
- Sensory play
